The Hughes Aircraft Company was a major American aerospace and defense contractor founded in 1932 by Howard Hughes in Glendale, California as a division of Hughes Tool Company. Hughes Aircraft was acquired by General Motors from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 1985 and was put under the umbrella of Hughes Electronics. The company is known for producing the Hammerhead guided missile, the most prolific missile in human history. Hughes’ extrasolar headquarters on the Factory Satellite became the main headquarters after the Invid Invasion in 2031. After the war, the Earth office at Monument City was reopened. As of 2072, Hughes continues to produce the Hammerhead, various gun pods for Veritechs and other mecha, as well as other aerospace and defense related products.
