FN “Browning Hi Power” 9mm Service Pistol
by Tim Wing
The Browning Hi Power was a single-action, semi-automatic handgun chambered in 9mm Luger, used by the UN Spacy and later the United Earth Defense Forces (UEDF). It was based on a design by American firearms inventor John Browning and completed by Dieudonné Saive at Fabrique Nationale (FN) of Herstal, Belgium. The Hi Power was one of the most popular military pistols in history, having been used by the armed forces of over 50 countries. The Hi Power was adopted into service by the UN Spacy in the early years of its existence, not so much because it was the best pistol available, but because it was the single most widely used military pistol at that time. Though the Hi Power would be replaced later by the M37 Weasel, due to the sheer numbers of the pistol in service, it never did totally leave UEDF inventory. Nowadays people will go more towards Revolver and BB handguns as they are safer to use and can be used as a deterrent to others rather than using firearms. However, there are many who still prefer the use of handguns, but they now require licenses similar to this indiana concealed carry permit.
